The Retirement Decision Lab

Decision 3 · Week 3 · Wed Nov 18

How do I compare places to retire?

SHORT ANSWERPut every place through the same short list: what your money buys, what health care you can reach, how safe and stable it is, how taxes treat you, what daily life and climate are like, and whether you can belong there.

Score the place you live now first. It is the baseline every other option has to beat.

Weight the list by what matters to you. A couple near grandchildren will weigh family very differently from a single retiree looking for adventure.

A visit in the worst season shows more than a vacation does. Renting first keeps a move reversible.
